While we can all agree that self-transcendence is a basic tenet of human nature, I think that Abraham Maslow’s theory of motivated self-transcendence is a much more complete theory.
Maslow defined motivation as a “desire that is directed at an end,” and he argued that this desire can be aroused by a variety of external stimuli. This article is written for a lot of people who are interested in the theory of motivated self-transcendence, and it is written with that in mind.
While Maslow’s theory of motivated self-transcendence is a very good starting point, it’s not the only one. Maslow argues that you can have any number of experiences that make us aware of our self and become aware of our outer environment, but that we need one specific experience to make us aware of our self.

For instance, we don’t need to spend a lot of time making sure that we’re not in a situation where we’ll be getting rid of a bad guy. We need to think about the world around us in order to make sure we are doing the right things.
We tend to become more aware of our inner world as we get older. In fact, it has been proven that self-awareness increases with age. For instance, research found that those who were more self-aware had better life satisfaction and decreased feelings of depression.
In fact, one of the biggest reasons we believe we would all be happier if we could transcend our physical bodies would be so that we could go to a higher place. Self-transcendental states of mind are known as “altered-state” states. They are a type of altered-state meditation. They enable you to become aware of your “inner self,” your “true-self,” and your “true-nature.
The problem with self-transcendence is that self-transcendence is the self you are stuck with. You are stuck with your body, your thoughts, and your feelings, but you are stuck with your thoughts.
