The best colors with black are those that are neutral in feel and give off a nice shade of gray. They don’t need to be black, but are neutral and, most importantly, don’t need to be black. I’ve seen so many black/gray/gray combinations that don’t work for the home that I decided that I needed a different way to mix colors without going black.
Ive been using black until now because I wanted to create a neutral and simple palette of colors for my own home, but I don’t want to be afraid of the dark. I’m also a huge fan of the black and gray and I thought that I’d experiment with black and gray and see what it felt like to mix them together. I went right to my closet and took out some black and gray and paired them with other colors.

You can’t really do that. You can mix colors, use one or two colors with the black and gray in one and one to use both colors together, but in general its best to mix the two colors separately. It doesn’t look well on the site, but at least it won’t look bad for the long term.
Yes, I agree. I have mixed colors and tried to make them work with black and gray together. They really work individually.
I also find it useful to mix the colors in a more natural way. For example, there is a way to mix two color ranges, but it is not very natural. So I am going to try a way that will be more natural. I cant really tell you which way is best because Im not a color expert, but I think it is the best way.
All of these things do work, but I think it is not much of a tradeoff. If you are on the fence about color, then do that first. If you want to try out a new color, that should be your starting point. If you are not sure, just try out black and gray.
I think you are right. Black and gray are great options. It is not the best colors, but it is not bad either.
