I was actually thinking about this a lot, so I went to the Google map API and pulled a few of the maps I like. I was surprised to see that there are a lot of maps which have the same scale (1,000,000,000), but not a lot of maps with 1,000,000,000,000. I thought about whether that’s a coincidence, but this is the first time I ever seen this happen.
