I think the problem is that we have gotten so used to our bodies doing what they are meant to do, that we are less comfortable with them doing something else. The brain is a remarkable piece of machinery, and your body is no exception. It can’t do something that you’ve been trained to do. Your body has learned that if you don’t do something, you get sick and you stop doing it.
I think the problem comes from the fact that our bodies can adapt and change in many ways. For example, we all know that the sun is a killer and that we should get exercise, but, we are not used to taking that into account. The same is true for our bodies. Our brains have learnt that if we don’t eat for a certain amount of time, we get sick, and if we don’t get enough exercise, we get tired.
